The 2025 ICI Investment Management Conference was noteworthy for the change in tone from the SEC officials in attendance, including Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda, as well as IM Director Natasha Greiner, who suggested that there has been a shift in the dynamic within the industry following the November election and that engagement with the industry is increasing. Sarah ten Siethoff, Associate Director of IM’s Rulemaking Office, noted that the SEC staff was particularly interested in innovative proposals aimed at increasing investor access to financial markets.
