Act Quickly: EDGAR Next Enrollment Deadline Approaching
For public companies, investors and other users of the SEC’s Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval (EDGAR) system, the deadline is fast approaching to upgrade to EDGAR Next. Filers using EDGAR credentials granted prior to March 24, 2025, must enroll in EDGAR Next by Sept. 12, 2025, to maintain uninterrupted filing access. Beginning Sept. 15, 2025, filers who have not enrolled in EDGAR Next will lose the ability to file with the SEC until enrollment is complete. The enrollment period will continue until 10 p.m. ET on Dec. 19, 2025, after which filers must submit a new Form ID and await SEC approval to gain access to EDGAR Next.
Background
On Sept. 27, 2024, the SEC adopted amendments to Regulation S-T, introducing significant changes to the EDGAR system for SEC filers. On March 24, 2025, the SEC launched the modernized EDGAR Next filing system. The updated system enhances security, improves the ability of filers to securely manage and maintain access to their accounts, facilitates the responsible management of filer credentials and simplifies procedures for accessing EDGAR. By enrolling prior to Sept. 15, 2025, EDGAR filers can take advantage of the streamlined process for transitioning to EDGAR Next without furnishing a new Form ID, presenting a power of attorney or producing notarized documents. Enrollment submissions can be processed and effective as early as the same day.

b. Email address (same email address used for the login.gov credentials of the user)
c. Business address
d. Business telephone number
e. Quarter end selection for annual EDGAR confirmation (March 31, June 30, Sept. 30 or Dec. 31)
