  • Georgia – Bob Trammell, a Democrat who served in the Georgia House of Representatives as minority leader from 2017-2021, has filed paperwork to explore a 2026 run for Georgia AG. AG Chris Carr will not seek reelection; instead, he is running for Georgia governor in 2026.
  • Oklahoma – Jeff Starling, Oklahoma’s Energy and Environment Secretary, announced that he is running for Oklahoma AG in 2026.  AG Gentner Drummond previously announced plans to run for governor.
  • South Carolina – Stephen Goldfinch, a Republican State Senator, announced that he is running for South Carolina AG. AG Alan Wilson previously announced his candidacy for governor.
  • South Dakota – Lance Russell, a county prosecutor and former state legislator, has announced his candidacy for South Dakota AG. AG Marty Jackley has announced that he will run for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2026.
  • Texas – Texas AG Ken Paxton has appointed as Solicitor General William Peterson, a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP.
