The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment - Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) and Merit Energy Company, LLC (“Merit”) entered into a May 15th Consent Administrative Order (“CAO”) addressing an alleged violation of an Air Permit. See LIS No. 25-041.
The CAO provides that Merit owns and operates a compressor station in Searcy, Arkansas.
The facility is stated to operate pursuant to a General Air Permit for Minor Source Natural Gas Compression Stations 1868-AGP-000 (“Permit”).
DEQ personnel are stated to have conducted a routine compliance inspection of the facility on April 10, 2024, covering the reporting period of October 2022 through February 2024.
The inspection is stated to have determined that Engine BKE00384 was tested on May 15, 2023, at 9,910 hours. The same Engine was stated to have been tested on February 15, 2022. Merit is stated to have failed to test the Engine within the 8,760 hours limit, violating Specific Condition 15 of the Permit and Subpart JJJJ.
Merit neither admits nor denies the factual and legal allegations contained in the CAO.
A civil penalty of $1,200.00 is assessed.
