Air Enforcement: Mississippi Commission on Environmental Quality and Stone County Plywood Plant Enter into Agreed Order

The Mississippi Commission on Environmental Quality (“MCEQ”) and Hood Industries, Inc. (“Hood”) entered into a November 12th Agreed Order (“AO”) addressing an alleged violation of a Clean Air Act Title V Operating Permit (“Permit”). See Order No. 7383 24.

The AO provides that Hood operates a plywood plant in Stone County, Mississippi.

The facility is denominated the Wiggins Plywood Plant.

The AO alleges that the facility failed to demonstrate compliance with the Filterable Particulate Matter limitation of 0.44 pounds per one million British thermal unties of heat during a stack test of Emission Point AA-002 on April 9th. The facility is stated to have emitted 0.743 lb/MMBtu of heat input during the stack test.

The facility is stated to have demonstrated compliance with Filterable PM limitation during a retest of Emission Point AA-002 on April 12th.

The AO assesses a civil penalty of $35,000.00.
