  • Alaska: Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy appointed Stephen J. Cox as the next Alaska AG, effective August 29, 2025. Former Alaska AG Treg Taylor previously announced that he would be stepping down on August 29, 2025. AG Cox is a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, and had previously served as a DOJ official.
  • Iowa: Iowa AG Brenna Bird appointed Steve Blankinship as her chief deputy, replacing Leif Olson, whose confirmation as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa is pending. Blankinship joins the AG’s office from the office of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, where he served in various senior counsel roles.
  • Kansas: Kansas AG Kris Kobach appointed Joseph Sciarrotta as chief deputy. Sciarrotta is a former senior official in the Arizona AG’s office under Mark Brnovich’s tenure.
