On June 11, the U.S. Senate confirmed Andrew Hughes as the new Deputy Secretary of HUD, making him the youngest Deputy Secretary in the department’s history. Hughes previously served as HUD Chief of Staff under former Secretary Ben Carson and current Secretary Scott Turner. His nomination received endorsements from former Secretary Carson, Sen. Tim Scott, who chairs the Senate Banking Committee, and various housing and community development organizations.

On April 10, Hughes testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. His full testimony can be viewed here.
