According to a recent report by WebRecon, court filings under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) were all down for the month. Still, everything except filings under the FDCPA were up over 2024 with CFPB complaints being up 100.4%!
WebRecon reports the overall statistics for consumer litigation in April as follows:
- 606 FCRA cases were filed, representing a 5.6% decrease from March;
- 335 FDCPA cases were filed, representing a 17.5% decrease from March;
- 235 TCPA cases filed, representing a 2.9% decrease from March; and
- 20,915 complaints filed with the CFPB, representing an 2.1% decrease from March.
Filings are mostly up compared to January 1 to April 30, 2024 (FCRA +10.2%, FDCPA -8.0%, TCPA +44.0%, CFPB +100.4%).
