California’s Governor Newsom appoints Mohseni as DFPI Commissioner

Recently, California Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Khalil “KC” Mohseni as the Commissioner of the California DFPI, following his role as Chief Deputy Director since 2023.

Mohseni’s previous positions included Chief Operating Officer at the State Controller’s Office from 2022 to 2023, Deputy Director of Administration at the California Department of Housing and Community Development from 2020 to 2022, and Project Director of Business at the Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency from 2018 to 2019. Additionally, Mohseni served as Chief Fiscal Officer at the Board of State and Community Corrections from 2015 to 2018. Mohseni holds a law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Irvine. Mohseni is registered without party preference.
