Centene to Pay Oregon $17 Million over Medicaid Overbilling Allegations

Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum and Insurance Commissioner Andrew Stolfi announced a $17 million settlement with health care company Centene Corporation in connection with alleged overcharges by the company to Oregon’s Medicaid program for pharmaceutical costs.
According to the AG’s office, Centene allegedly failed to provide certain discounts when serving as a pharmacy benefit manager and providing managed care, thereby receiving inflated fees.
As previously reported, Centene has settled similar allegations with several other states, including Kansas, Arkansas, Ohio, and Mississippi.
