On August 20, the CFPB released a report describing the actions it will take to implement “Gold Standard Science.” On May 23, President Trump issued Executive Order 14303, “Restoring Gold Standard Science,” directing federal agencies to update policies governing the production and use of scientific information.

In its report, the Bureau detailed its progress in addressing each of the nine identified tenets of gold standard science, developing standardized metrics and mechanisms for evaluating adherence to the tenets, and training agency personnel. The report noted that the CFPB is exploring ways to integrate technology to assist in interdisciplinary collaboration and anticipating challenges in implementing the standards when communicating technical research to a non-expert audience. The Bureau also described plans for developing an AI governance strategy to support the use of AI-driven tools when practicable.
