CFPB reportedly terminates 70 employees, including enforcement attorneys

On February 11, the CFPB reportedly terminated about 70 probationary employees, including several enforcement division attorneys, informing the employees that their skills did not align with the CFPB’s current needs. The White House had previously requested lists of probationary employees from all agencies along with recommendations on whether they should be retained. CFPB employees are typically hired on a two-year probationary period. The move came after Acting Director Russell Vought halted the Bureau’s external communications and redirected media inquiries to the OMB (covered by InfoBytes here) and followed the resignations of CFPB Assistant Directors of Supervision and Enforcement (covered here).
