The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on June 6, 2025 the termination of the designation of Nepal for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), after determining that the conditions in Nepal no longer support a TPS designation. The Secretary similarly announced the termination of TPS for Honduras and Nicaragua on July 7, 2025. Subsequent updates from DHS have confirmed that the termination for all three of these countries will take effect on November 18, 2025 and that DHS has automatically extended the validity of employment authorization documents (EADs) through November 18, 2025 for those individuals in TPS from Nepal, Honduras, or Nicaragua with EADs in the category A12 or C19. Beginning November 18, 2025, beneficiaries of TPS Nepal, Honduras, and Nicaragua working pursuant to their TPS-based work authorization must be reverified with other acceptable I-9 documents before they can continue working.
