Last month the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (OIG) released its first industry-specific compliance program guidance aimed at nursing facilities (both skilled and non-skilled). The guidance provides helpful insights for nursing facilities, including what the OIG perceives as the top compliance risks for nursing facilities and recommendations for how to mitigate those risks.

Please see Podcast here.

Although specifically aimed at nursing facilities, the guidance is a helpful read for anyone in healthcare compliance, including those outside the long-term care industry. On this week’s podcast, we discuss how nursing facilities can implement the new guidance as well as share four high-level takeaways from this new guidance applicable to any healthcare provider.
