The VETS-4212 filing period for federal contractors opened last week on August 1, 2025, and closes on September 30, 2025.

Federal contractors and subcontractors with 50 or more employees and at least one federal contract of $150,000 or more are required to file their annual VETS-4212 Report, which provides an overview of the contractor’s workforce based on protected veteran status. This year, the filing period will run through September 30, 2025, so covered contractors have approximately two months to complete and submit their report.

To file their VETS-4212 Report, contractors can use the Department of Labor’s (“DOL”) electronic submission system (DOL’s preferred method), or email or physically mail the form. For additional logistical information and answers to frequently asked questions, DOL’s VETS-4212 webpage is a helpful resource.

Employers with questions about whether they are covered federal contractors or about nuances of the form should contact their employment attorney for specific guidance.
