On March 31, 2020, Governor Baker extended his March 23, 2020 order mandating the temporary closure of all “non-essential” workplaces through May 4, 2020 (the “Order”). In addition, as of noon on April 1, 2020, Exhibit A to the Governor’s Order will expand to include a broader scope of COVID-19 Essential Services. The expansion provides additional clarity to businesses regarding certain supply chain and other essential services. The Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development (the “EOHED”) has issued guidance to help businesses comply with the Governor’s Order. Notably, the EOHED guidance states that workers providing essential services are not required to carry documentation that reflect essential status.
