The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) issued an October 9th press release titled:
Biden-Harris Administration Protects Communities from Lead in Drinking Water, Announces $29,810,000 in Funding to Arkansas to Provide Clean Water to Schools and Homes.
EPA had simultaneously issued the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (“LCRI”) rule which amends the current Safe Drinking Water Act rule to require drinking water systems in the United States to identify and replace lead pipes within ten years.
The LCRI was addressed in this previous blog post.
The funds announced for Arkansas are being made available through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These funds will be transmitted through the drinking water state revolving funds.
The Natural Resource Commission of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture administrates these funds for the state.
