Nevada AG Race Expands; Texas AG Contest Adds Democratic Candidate

  • Nicole Cannizzaro, Nevada’s state senate majority leader and a former prosecutor, has announced that she is running for Nevada AG in 2026 to replace AG Aaron Ford, who is term-limited. Nevada Treasurer Zach Conine and Douglas County Commissioner Danny Tarkanian have also announced that they are running.
  • Three-term Democratic State Senator Nathan Johnson announced that he is running for Texas AG. Johnson is the first Democrat to enter the race; Republican State Senators Joan Huffman and Mayes Middleton have previously announced their intention to run. Texas AG Ken Paxton is running in the 2026 U.S. Senate GOP primary against Senator John Cornyn.
