Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is currently serving as the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), emailed staff on Monday directing employees to cease all rulemaking activities and delay the implementation of rules that have not yet taken effect. Acting Director Bessent also ordered a halt to any actions related to enforcement, litigation, and public communications.
