  • New York AG Letitia James announced that the state legislature passed an amended version of the Fostering Affordability and Integrity through Reasonable Business Practices Act (FAIR Business Practices Act), which expands the state’s existing consumer protection laws.
  • According to the AG’s office, the FAIR Business Practices Act would expand the state’s consumer protection laws to prohibit unfair and abusive practices, extend the protections of the law to businesses as well as consumers, make conduct without public impact actionable, cover out-of-state conduct, and bring the state’s consumer protections in line with other states’ and federal consumer protection laws, among other things.
  • On Cozen O’Connor’s State AG Pulse podcast episode A FAIR Go for NY Consumers, State AG Group attorneys Christopher Allen and Emily Yu discuss the FAIR Business Practices Act, including some contemplated applications by the NY AG that may be new or novel.
