Recently, it was reported NYDFS recently appointed Gabriel O’Malley as the head of its Consumer Protection and Financial Enforcement Division (CPFED), effective on March 13, according to a recent social media post. O’Malley recently departed from the CFPB where he served as deputy enforcement director for policy and strategy. O’Malley will reportedly lead the CPFED, which was established during the first Trump administration to enhance state-level consumer protection efforts. This new hiring comes on the heels of NYDFS Superintendent Adrienne Harris’ reported recruiting of personnel from the federal agencies affected by recent administration transitional changes (covered by InfoBytes here).
