Pennsylvania’s landlords are closely watching statewide bans on eviction proceedings, as well as the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter. The Supreme Court issued an
order on April 28 in which it directed that state courts open for business on May 4. The Supreme Court, however, is allowing common pleas courts that have already issued shut down orders beyond May 4 to maintain their shut down schedule. In other counties, eviction cases may be permitted to proceed as of May 4. However, no actual dispossessions can occur before May 11. Landlords would be prudent to keep apprised of the latest developments and stay in touch with their counsel regarding any potential roadblocks.
