Recently, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced that he launched a new centralized consumer protection hotline, website and email address to assist Pennsylvanians in reporting scams and resolving financial and insurance concerns. The announcement stated that those who experience scams or have financial or insurance related-concerns can submit a claim by calling 1-866-PACOMPLAINT, visiting pa.gov/consumer, or emailing consumer@pa.gov.

The Shapiro Administration stated it wishes to expand Pennsylvania’s use of its enforcement authority under the Dodd-Frank Act to protect consumers by enforcing federal consumer protection laws. Pennsylvania hopes to investigate predatory and deceptive financial practices, coordinate across agencies, and educate consumers through outreach and free public programming.
