What Caused the Rödl Management Data Breach?
The Rödl Management data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Rödl’s filing with the Attorney General of Vermont provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on February 9, 2024, Rödl was contacted by the company’s managed service provider, who alerted management to suspicious activity in the Rödl network.
In response, Rödl secured its network, notified federal law enforcement, and then launched an investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts. Through this investigation, Rödl confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access the company’s IT network between January 30, 2024 and February 9, 2024, including files containing confidential information belonging to certain individuals.
After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Rödl Management reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Rödl recently completed this process.
On April 2, 2025, Rödl Management sent out personalized data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. While the publicly available data breach letter on the Vermont Attorney General’s site doesn’t mention what type of information was leaked, these personalized letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
