On September 10, 2025, the SEC announced that James J. Moloney has been named Director of the Division of Corporation Finance, effective in October. Among other things, Moloney will work to advance several of the rulemaking priorities outlined in the SEC’s Spring 2025 Regulatory Agenda (agenda), particularly those affecting public company disclosure and capital formation. The agenda and the potential rulemakings that may be of particular interest to public companies were discussed in this previous post. This announcement is part of a broader wave of leadership changes at the SEC under the new administration and SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins. Earlier this year, the SEC named Judge Margaret “Meg” Ryan as Director of the Division of Enforcement, effective September 2, 2025, and named Kurt Hohl as Chief Accountant of the SEC, effective July 7, among others.
