President Obama signed into law on October 4, 2013, an extension of the visa program for certain Iraqi nationals to obtain “special immigrant visas”.
To qualify, you must have worked for or on behalf of the U.S. government between the dates March 20, 2003 to September 30, 2013, and been employed for at least one year. This program was in existence, but expired September 30, 2013.
The program has been extended so that cases in process when the law expired can be finalized.
The law also allows for 2,000 additional visas if the initial application is made to the DOS Chief of Mission in Iraq are made by Dec. 31, 2013.
Dependents may also apply with no numerical limitation.
