As our loyal readers will remember, Focus on Forever highlighted the PFAS-related aspects of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act when it was signed into law back in November 2021. Since that time, there has been a significant amount of public discussion about the Act’s $10 billion allocation towards addressing PFAS in drinking water. Just this month, former EPA Administrator William K. Reilly as well as Dr. Betsy Southerland, a former director of science and technology in the EPA’s Office of Water, authored an op ed urging Congress to step up its efforts to pass appropriations bills that provide the promised funding to enable PFAS-related efforts to move forward as intended.
Given the increased attention on the funding-focused aspects of the Act, we have asked some colleagues to pen a special spotlight feature on the PFAS-related funding provisions in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which you can find at the conclusion of this week’s newsletter.
