The Association of Air Pollution Control Agencies ("AAPCA") issued the 2025 edition of its annual report titled:

State Air Trends & Successes ("Report").

AAPCA describes itself as a:

...National Small Land, non-profit consensus-driven organization focused on assisting state and local air quality agencies and personel with implementation and technical issues associated with the Federal Clean Air Act.

The Organization states it represents 53 state and local air pollution control agencies, and senior officials from 21 state environmental agencies currently sit on its board of directors.

The introduction to the report notes which describes and "highlights":

  • Collectively from 2000 to 2024, AAPCA Member States have reduced aggregate emissions of criteria air pollutants by an estimated 44 percent.
  • From 2000 to 2022, AAPCA Members States achieved a 15 percent decrease in energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2} emissions, while energy production increased by 55 percent. For the same period, AAPCA's membership oversaw an average 44 percent reduction in carbon intensity of the economy.
  • From 2013 to 2023, reported toxic air releases in the United States declined by 33 percent and AAPCA Member States were responsible for about 68 percent of the total reduction.
