Bobby Wilkinson was named the Executive Director of The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), effective August 15th.  As Executive Director, Mr. Wilkson will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of TDHCA and for directing and managing its many programs.  Mr. Wilkinson most recently served as Deputy Budget Director for the Budget and Policy Division of the Office of the Texas Governor and has served as a housing policy advisor to Governor Abbott since 2015.

TDHCA also recently announced the allocation of its 2019 housing tax credits—totaling $79.5 million.  Since its inception, TDHCA’s Housing Tax Credit Program has become one of the most powerful and successful tools for the development of affordable housing communities in Texas.  Under this Program, TDHCA is responsible for allocating housing tax credits and for monitoring the compliance of tax credit projects.  It is expected that this year’s allocation will provide financing for the construction of 52 new properties (3,822 units) as well as the rehabilitation of 16 existing properties (1,148 units).
