  • Texas AG Ken Paxton has announced an investigation into the artificial intelligence company DeepSeek’s privacy practices and its claims that its AI model rivals the most advanced AI models in the world, including OpenAI.
  • The AG’s press release states that Texas has notified the company that its platform, which allegedly has ties to the Chinese Communist Party, violates state consumer protection and privacy laws, and that requests were sent to mobile app platforms to obtain their analysis of the DeepSeek application and the documentation that the company was required to submit to them before DeepSeek’s app available to consumers. The AG has also banned DeepSeek’s platform on all of its office’s devices.
