  • Texas AG Ken Paxton announced a settlement in principle with Google LLC to resolve allegations of data privacy and security violations.
  • The settlement will resolve lawsuits filed by Texas against Google for allegedly tracking and collecting users’ private data regarding geolocation, incognito searches, and biometric data, in violation of state consumer protection laws.
  • According to AG Paxton’s press release, Google will pay $1.375 billion to settle the claims.
  • We have previously reported on the Texas AG’s announcement that the office will pursue “aggressive enforcement of Texas privacy laws,” including tasking a large team within the Consumer Protection Division with ramping up enforcement of various data privacy statutes.
