As discussed in the previous article, the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project is the region’s proposed answer to the diminishing capacity of our electric grid.  On October 18, 2024, the Project’s New Jersey-based developer, Public Service Enterprise Group (“PSEG”), announced its preferred route.  PSEG will soon present that route, depicted below, to the Maryland Public Service Commission for approval.

In light of this announcement, PSEG sent letters to every property owner along the route.  Evidently, PSEG is confident the Maryland Public Service Commission will approve the Project, as is.  If PSEG’s prediction proves correct, the road ahead will include PSEG exercising eminent domain to condemn and acquire property along the route.  That road is complicated and easily manipulatable by a publicly traded corporation like PSEG.  It is therefore imperative that every property owner in PSEG’s path understands their rights and assembles a team to protect them.

If some or all of your private land is affected by PSEG’s Project, hire an experienced eminent domain attorney to help secure the just compensation you deserve.
