HEADLINES
- Congress returns from its August recess facing a deadline at the end of the month to fund the government, with the political prospects for a funding deal looking ominous.
- Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will testify at a hearing on the administration’s health agenda.
- British member of Parliament and prime minister hopeful Nigel Farage will testify at a congressional hearing regarding European laws governing online content.
HOUSE
- The House will be in session today through Thursday, taking up legislation to overturn Biden administration rules from the Bureau of Land Management.
- The Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing tomorrow titled “Europe’s Threat to American Speech and Innovation,” with Farage testifying.
- Also tomorrow, the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing on artificial intelligence in health care.

SENATE
- The Senate will take up the annual Defense policy bill.
- The Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing tomorrow on “Why Congress and NASA Must Thwart China in the Space Race.”
- Kennedy will appear before the Finance Committee Thursday, likely facing sharp questioning about recent turmoil at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

WHITE HOUSE
- Trump has an unspecified announcement scheduled for this afternoon.
- He is maintaining a light public schedule, with no other events currently announced.
