On March 18, USDA announced the immediate termination of a temporary authority that had allowed certain non-U.S. citizens to apply for guaranteed loans under the Single-Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program (Loan Program). USDA began this program on April 29, 2022, but recently announced it was no longer valid as of March 18. USDA plans to update Chapter 8 of its Handbook-1-3555 to reflect these changes. USDA has also indicated that a Job Aid will be made available to assist in determining eligibility for the Loan Program. This resource will be accessible through the USDA LINC Training and Resource Library and will provide guidance on the loan application process.
