Starting July 1, 2025, it will require the NCAA and its Division I member institutions to pay nearly $3 billion in damages to current and former athletes for the prior use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights. The settlement also establishes a new revenue-sharing framework between schools and athletes. By March 1, 2025, Division I schools must decide whether they want to “opt-in” to the revenue-sharing framework.
