In July, the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit found the FCC’s Universal Service Fund (USF) to violate the Constitution in several ways. This decision reversed an earlier decision by a panel of the court upholding the program and contradicts decisions by the 6th and 11th Circuits on appeals brought by substantially the same parties. The decision casts doubt on the future of a $9 Billion per year subsidy program that has enjoyed widespread Congressional support for nearly 30 years.
In this webinar, Nelson Mullins partners Steve Augustino and John Heitmann will address the near-term and long-term implications of this decision on the FCC and the industry. Among other topics, the webinar will discuss what’s next for the challenges, the likelihood of the Supreme Court reviewing the decision, and the implications of the decision on ongoing efforts to reform the contributions mechanism.
Join us for insight into the practical implications of the decision and what’s next for administration of the USF program.
